Welcome to Knecht’s Nurseries and Landscaping. We began growing trees in 1988, added landscaping in 1992 and our retail plant center in 1999. By making a strong commitment to personal service, constant improvement in both the retail and plant production areas, and fostering a sense of community with all those whose lives we touch, we have seen an amazing growth in the business. Who we are:

Growers and retailers of Minnesota grown northern hardy landscape plants. We also provide landscape design and installation services for residential customers.
Our staff of certified nursery and landscape professionals is able to provide information, advice and service that will help you plan and complete a successful and beautiful landscape project.
We are a small town nursery with quality, selection and service second to none. With over 45,000 trees, shrubs, and perennials to choose from and a full selection of annuals, we are able to provide the best plants, amazing selection and exceptional value.
Our attention to detail and the highest standards of plant production and organization make a visit to Knecht’s an outing to remember. Stroll through our display gardens for ideas, talk to our knowledgeable staff and enjoy the beauty of acres of plants.

Leif and Deb Knecht – Owners; Certified Nursery and Landscape Professionals	We’ve been growing trees since 1988 and haven’t stopped! A deep interest in all types of plants grew into container production of trees, shrubs and perennials along with the establishment of our retail nursery. We love meeting people as they come into the nursery and helping them to find just the right plants for their project. Outside of the business, we enjoy the canoe country in northern Minnesota, the outdoors, our pets and spoiling our five grandchildren!
Heidi Brosseau – Retail Manager, Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional	As Knecht’s retail sales manager you can find me at the nursery and ready to assist you in your plant selections. I have been working with Leif and Deb as well as the rest of our terrific crew since 2002, and as with the rest of our retail staff, enjoy being outdoors and working with the plants we love. It is my goal to make sure you go home with the plant material best suited to your application as well as the knowledge you will need to see if off to a healthy start. If you are new to our nursery, I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your landscape. Some of our customers will tell you I will probably forget your name, but I’ll almost always remember what plants you have!
Amy Voight- Landscape Designer, CNLP	I have a passion for landscape design and love bringing my designs to reality in the yards of my customers. I enjoy nothing more than to spend time in my own gardens with my 3 boys. I have been designing landscapes for many years, having received a degree in landscape design and horticulture. In 1998, I received my Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional designation.
Katherine Lewis- Landscape Designer	I have been a part of the Knecht’s team since the fall of 2011. I graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in landscape architecture. I love designing both inviting and useable spaces that are simply beautiful. I look forward to working with you to design a space that captivates you. My spare time will find me running, biking, being outdoors, traveling, spending time with my family and volunteering with people with disabilities.
Jim Westlund – Landscape Division Manager – Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional	I started here at Knecht’s in February 2005. I’m a graduate of Northfield High School and Dakota County Vo Tech. I enjoy working with people, being outdoors. I look forward to every job — whether large or small! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, motorcycling and bicycling.
Gabby	My name is Gabby. I actually run the show here at the nursery. I have people stop in and ask for me by name. Anyone that brings me a doggie treat (a real doggie treat, please — they don’t let me eat people food) and plays ball with me, becomes my new best friend. I am here at the nursery anytime that my humans are here and when they go home, I go with them. I also like the canoe country — especially the fishing. Woof!
