Cardinal Red Twig Dogwood

If you love lots of color in your landscape, and get a bit sad as Jack Frost causes flowers to fade every fall, consider planting a mass of Cardinal Red Twig Dogwood in a full sun to half sun area.  Cardinal Red Twig Dogwood go largely unnoticed as spring, summer and early fall flowers put on a color show from April through September.  As it pushes out new shoots throughout the growing season, Cardinal Red Twig Dogwood is quietly preparing for its time on center stage.

Just as the very first fall colors begin to appear, the plain green stems of Cardinal Red Twig Dogwood begin to acquire a reddish tinge.  As maples hit their peak fall color, the leaves of Cardinal Red Twig Dogwood drop off, revealing stems that have completed their own color change to a glowing red with a hint of orange.
