It has been an exciting time for the Knecht’s crew as one of our own has earned the title of Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Association Certified Professional. Congratulations to designer Amy Willkomm!
This is no small feat. Minnesota Nursery & Landscape Association (MNLA) has collaborated with the University of Minnesota and other higher education learning institutions to create the Certified Professional program. “The objective of the MNLA Certified Professional program is to uphold, improve, and promote standards of professionalism and excellence within the industry”. A 2-year college degree or 2,000 hours of nursery or landscape related employment is required to be eligible to take the exam. The exam itself is 200 questions on general industry knowledge and an additional 200 questions on a specialty field. The program requires continued education and participation in the industry to maintain the Certified Professional title.
Amy joined the Knecht’s team in April 2021. She started on our retail team, but quickly cross-trained in nearly all other areas of the business. She is exceptionally creative and driven by her desire to design and install landscapes. She is quick to step up to any challenge and opportunity to grow in skill and knowledge. She has become a strong point on our design and landscape team. While working, Amy attended Hennepin Technical College and earned her Associate Degree in Landscape Design and Construction in 2023.
Amy is a combination of everything it takes to shine in our business. She is brilliant, yet humble; she is always asking questions to continue to learn and grow. She consistently works hard through challenging jobs and challenging weather. She is honest, kind, happy and just plain fun to work beside. We are grateful she is part of our team to help Plants and People Knecht.
Great job Amy!
