Knecht’s Nurseries & Landscaping is hiring and we’re looking for people who have a passion for plants, gardening, & landscaping!

Knecht’s is a highly regarded garden center offering a huge variety of plant material, landscape site visit consultations, landscape design, and landscape installation services. We manage 15 acres of nursery grown product. Our goal is to provide high quality plant material and excellent customer service. We expect our team to have a positive attitude and be helpful, respectful, and kind to customers and co-workers.

We have seasonal full-time and part-time positions available in retail, production, and landscape crew. Pay is commensurate with experience. Full-time positions include retirement benefits and vacation time after one year. We offer paid training, a clothing allowance, and an employee discount.

GARDEN CENTER ASSOCIATE / PLANT CARE Full-time and part-time openings

Qualifications:

  • Helpful and friendly attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic plant knowledge, or willingness to learn
  • Weekend availability
  • The physical ability to move and load shrubs and trees for retail areas and customers

Tasks:

  • Customer service and cash register operation
  • Plant care including, but not limited to, watering and pruning
  • Restocking retail areas
  • Verify price signs and inventory counts
  • Maintain retail displays and display gardens
  • Keep all retail areas organized and safe for customer traffic

 

PRODUCTION CREW / LANDSCAPE LABORER Full-time and part-time openings

Qualifications:

  • Helpful and friendly attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic plant knowledge, or willingness to learn
  • Weekend availability
  • The physical ability to move and load shrubs and trees frequently for retail areas and customers
  • Experience operating a one-ton truck and/or skid loader or willingness to learn

Tasks:

  • Planting and transplanting in containers and field
  • Plant care including, but not limited to, watering and pruning
  • Restock retail areas
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Tree and landscape installation off-site as needed
  • Work outdoors in heat, cold and rain

 

LANDSCAPE LEAD Full-time opening

   Starting Pay is $20 to $28 per hour.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with proper planting and hardscape installation
  • Ability to lead a small crew on a landscape project
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license
  • DOT medical card, or willingness to acquire one, company provided
  • Ability to safely operate a one-ton truck with a trailer and skid loader
  • The physical ability to safely move and transport potted plant material and bagged product
  • Weekend availability

Tasks:

  • Load and unload truck for installation jobs.
  • Travel up to 30 miles for tree and landscape installation.
  • Correctly plant and install soft-scapes and hardscapes.
  • Answer client questions as needed.
  • Additional duties include organizing nursery during spring set-up and assisting with winter covering in late fall, digging B&B trees, field planting, bareroot planting, and deliveries.

 

 

NURSERY AND GREENHOUSE INVENTORY MANAGER

   Full-time openings in Tree & Evergreen Department and Shrub & Perennial Department.

   Starting Pay is $20 to $28 per hour.

Qualifications:

  • basic plant knowledge and experience working in a nursery and/or greenhouse
  • provide proper plant care of nursery stock to maintain optimal health and vigor
  • work independently and as a team
  • create and delegate tasks, and ensure tasks are done safely and efficiently
  • valid driver’s license
  • excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Pesticide Applicator’s License or willingness to acquire, company provided
  • Ability to operate skid steer and truck/trailer combination safely and efficiently, or willingness to learn

Tasks:

  • Plant and transplant inventory in containers and field for retail sales.
  • Plant care including pruning, pest management, fertilizing, up-shifting, and more as necessary.
  • Grounds maintenance as it affects the health and vigor of nursery stock.
  • Watering management including irrigation and hand-watering.
  • Keep retail areas stocked.
  • Keep inventory labeled accurately and well organized.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory & treatment applications.
