Knecht’s Nurseries & Landscaping is hiring and we’re looking for people who have a passion for plants, gardening, and landscaping!

Knecht’s is a highly regarded garden center offering a large variety of plants, trees, and shrubs as well as landscape consultation, design, and installation services. With over 15 acres of nursery grown product, Knecht’s goal is to provide high quality plant material and excellent customer service. Knecht’s has seasonal full-time and part-time positions available in retail, production, and landscape divisions. Pay is commensurate with experience. All employees will enjoy paid training, a clothing allowance, paid time off, retirement program and an employee discount.

Current Positions at Knecht's Nurseries & Landscaping

DELIVERY DRIVER part-time

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license
    DOT medical card or ability to acquire one, company provided
  • Ability to safely operate a one-ton dump truck and skid loader
  • Physical ability to safely move and transport potted plant material and bagged product
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

 

Tasks:

  • Load and deliver bulk product and plant material to customers in Northfield and surrounding areas.
  • Work with customers as needed to ensure proper delivery location.
  • Flexible schedule, 10 to 25 hours per week, possibly more hours in May and June.
  • A hybrid position may be considered for additional hours.

 

LANDSCAPE LEAD full-time

Qualifications:

  • Experience with proper planting and hardscape installation
  • Ability to lead a small crew on a landscape project
  • Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license
  • DOT medical card or ability to acquire one, company provided
  • Ability to safely operate a one-ton truck with a trailer and skid loader
  • The physical ability to safely move and transport potted plant material and bagged product
  • Weekend availability

 

Tasks:

  • Load and unload truck for installation jobs.
  • Travel up to 30 miles for tree and landscape installation.
  • Correctly plant and install soft-scapes and hardscapes.
  • Answer client questions as needed.
  • Additional duties include organizing nursery during spring set-up and assisting with winter covering in late fall, digging B&B trees, field planting, bareroot planting, and deliveries.
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather

 

LANDSCAPE LABORER part/full-time

Qualifications:

  • Helpful and friendly attitude
  • Good communication skills
    Attention to detail
    Basic plant knowledge or willingness to learn
  • Weekend availability
  • The physical ability to move, load, and plant shrubs and trees
  • Experience operating a one-ton truck and/or skid loader or ability to learn

 

Tasks:

  • Assist with hardscape and softscape installation primarily in residential areas
  • Load and unload trucks and trailers to prepare for landscape installation off site.
  • Planting and transplanting in containers and field
  • Plant care and grounds maintenance
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather

 

NURSERY PRODUCTION LEAD / GROWER full-time

Qualifications:

  • Basic plant knowledge and experience working in a nursery and/or greenhouse
  • Provide proper plant care of nursery stock to maintain optimal health and vigor
  • Work independently and as a team
  • Create and delegate tasks, and ensure tasks are done safely and efficiently
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Pesticide Applicator’s License or ability to acquire, company provided
  • Ability to operate skid steer and truck/trailer combination safely and efficiently, or ability to learn

 

Tasks:

  • Plant and transplant inventory in containers and field for retail sales.
  • Plant care including but not limited to pest management, fertilizing, and up-shifting.
  • Grounds maintenance as it affects the health and vigor of nursery stock.
  • Watering management including irrigation and hand-watering.
  • Ensure retail areas are properly stocked.
  • Keep inventory labeled accurately and well organized.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory & treatment applications.
    Work outdoors in all types
  • of weather

 

PRODUCTION TEAM MEMBER part/full-time

Qualifications:

  • Helpful and friendly attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic plant knowledge or ability to learn
  • Weekend availability
  • Physical ability to move and load shrubs and trees on a regular basis
  • Experience operating a one-ton truck and/or skid loader or ability to learn

 

Tasks:

  • Planting and transplanting in containers and field
  • Plant care including, but not limited to, watering, pruning and staking
  • Ensure retail areas are properly stocked.
  • Grounds maintenance
    Work outdoors in all types of weather

 

GARDEN CENTER TEAM MEMBER part/full-time

Qualifications:

  • Helpful and friendly attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic plant knowledge, or ability to learn
  • Weekend availability
  • Physical ability to move and load shrubs and trees on a regular basis

 

Tasks:

  • Customer service and cash register operation
  • Plant care including, but not limited to, watering and pruning
  • Restocking retail areas
  • Verify price signs and inventory counts
  • Maintain retail displays and display gardens
  • Keep all retail areas organized and safe for customer traffic
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather
