Knecht’s is a highly regarded garden center with over 15 acres of nursery-grown product. We offer an extensive selection of plants, trees, and shrubs, along with professional landscape consultation, design, and installation services. Current Openings

GARDEN CENTER TEAM MEMBER Retail sales and plant care position

Full-time and part-time positions | Employment period: March through November | Starting Pay: $14-18/hour depending on experience

Qualifications:

  • Helpful and friendly attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic landscape plant knowledge, or willingness to learn
  • Available and willing to work a minimum of 3 days per week April through June
  • Weekend availability (typically every other weekend; may be more frequent during peak season late April through mid-June)
  • Physical ability to move and load shrubs and trees for retail areas and customers
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service and operate cash register
  • Provide care for plants including watering, pruning, and general maintenance
  • Keep retail areas fully stocked and signage accurately displayed
  • Maintain retail displays and display gardens
  • Keep all retail areas organized and safe for customer traffic
  • Occasionally assist with production tasks such as planting, weeding, and irrigation
  • Participate in intensive seasonal setup (spring) and winterization (fall) of the entire nursery inventory

 

GARDEN CENTER LEAD Retail supervisor and team leadership position

Full-time position (40+ hours / week) | Employment period: March through November | Starting Pay: $18-22/hour depending on experience

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership skills with a team-first mentality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to delegate tasks and manage priorities
  • Helpful and friendly attitude with customers and team members
  • Solid plant knowledge or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards
  • Weekend availability (typically every other weekend; may be more frequent during peak season late April through mid-June)
  • Physical ability to move and load shrubs and trees for retail areas and customers
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Collaborate with management team to establish project goals and priorities
  • Assign daily tasks to retail team members to achieve departmental objectives
  • Guide and support team members in completing their responsibilities
  • Lead by example and foster a positive, productive work environment

Retail Operations:

  • Provide excellent customer service and operate cash register
  • Provide care for plants including watering, pruning, and general maintenance
  • Ensure retail areas are fully stocked and signage accurately displayed
  • Maintain retail displays and display gardens
  • Keep all retail areas organized and safe for customer traffic
  • Assist with production tasks such as planting, weeding, and irrigation as needed
  • Participate in and help coordinate intensive seasonal setup (spring) and winterization (fall) of the entire nursery inventory

 

PRODUCTION & LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION TEAM MEMBER Nursery production and landscape crew position

Full-time and part-time positions (24-40 hours per week) | Employment period: March through November | Starting Pay: $14-18/hour depending on experience

Qualifications:

  • Helpful and friendly attitude
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Basic plant knowledge or willingness to learn
  • Available and willing to work a minimum of 3 days per week April through June
  • Weekend availability as needed
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Experience operating a one-ton truck and/or skid loader, or ability to learn
  • Physical ability to perform demanding outdoor work including moving, loading, and planting shrubs and trees
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in various weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain

Responsibilities:

Production (On-Site):

  • Plant and transplant shrubs and trees in containers and field
  • Provide plant care including watering, pruning, and fertilizing
  • Set up and maintain irrigation systems
  • Maintain nursery grounds and production areas
  • Assist Garden Center Team with stocking retail areas, customer service, and other tasks as needed
  • Participate in intensive seasonal setup (spring) and winterization (fall) of the entire nursery inventory

Landscape Installation (Off-Site):

  • Assist with hardscape and softscape installation projects, primarily in residential settings
  • Load and unload trucks and trailers in preparation for off-site installations
  • Transport materials and plants to job sites
  • Work as part of a crew to complete landscape projects efficiently and professionally

Note: This is a hybrid position that may include work both at our nursery location and at off-site landscape installation projects, depending on seasonal needs.
