Growing in the New Year!

Daffodil Bulbs being forced in a vase.

Oh! It’s cold! The brief respite from the deep freeze last week, while welcomed, has just made its return that much harder! So, to soften the blow of that drifting snow, I pulled out all the stops! I paged through my favorite seed catalog, read the latest edition of Northern Gardener Magazine, drooled over all the new and exciting perennials, (stay tuned for more about those), and pulled the daffodil bulbs out of the crisper drawer of my refrigerator. I must admit I was feeling quite pleased with myself for squirreling them away indoors to be forced this winter. So begins the 2018 growing season. Not out in the yard, not in the greenhouse. But quietly and simply, with snow falling out the window, at my warm kitchen table, in lists and notes, seed orders, and daffodil bulbs.
