Groundcover plants usually don’t bring to mind intense fall color, but Gro-Low Fragrant Sumac puts on quite a show right now with its neon orange fall color.  In fairly sunny to full sun areas, Gro-Low Fragrant Sumac can be used very successfully as a groundcover shrub, and provide a splash of electric fall color.

Gro-Low Fragrant Sumac is particularly useful on slopes where you don’t want to be mowing,  The tenacious roots of Gro-Low Fragrant Sumac do an excellent job of holding the soil in place, and creating a fairy low maintenance mass of plant material that is ultra hardy, even on steep slopes.

The unusual lobes of the Gro-Low Fragrant Sumac create an interesting texture that is a nice addition to any landscape, and this low growing shrub requires almost no pruning as it forms a dense mass that retards weed growth.  Mature height is 18″ to 24″.

This photo was taken this morning – Sunday, Oct. 11th here at the nursery.  Stop in today for a look at the electric neon orange fall color of the Gro-Low Fragrant Sumac.
