Tubular, lipstick red flowers cover this weigela in spring, and due to its large size (about 5’ tall and 6’ wide) the impact is incredible. Because Sonic Bloom® flowers on old and new wood, the show continues until frost with sporadic pops of red. To take advantage of the long bloom season, regular pruning is not recommended for this shrub. If you must prune, do so right after the initial flower explosion in spring.
Full sun and well-drained soil with regular moisture will keep Sonic Bloom® Red performing and blooming its best, but it can tolerate light shade and is fairly adaptable to other soil types. Beautiful alongside other large shrubs in foundation and border plantings and great for hummingbird gardens.
