Lows Predicted at 32 degrees and Below!

The below normal weather continues.  The predicted low in Northfield for tonight is 32 degrees.  Since we sit at a lower elevation at the bottom of the St. Olaf Hill, we usually experience temperatures about 4-5 degrees lower.  So what that meant today, is that we tipped and covered all sensitive shrubs – such as the hydrangeas and the lilacs and we hauled lots of trees and shrubs into our greenhouses.IMG_2832 IMG_2830

About half of the perennials were covered with sheets and blankets as well.  this isn’t a fun task but it helps us ensure that our customers will get plant material that is in tip top condition.

The weather is supposed to be above normal starting this weekend so we hope that this means we can all get our hands dirty now!IMG_2833
